There are ideas for rainy days, free outings and bigger adventures if you’re happy to travel a little further.

Family-Friendly Activities at Clyne Farm Centre

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Clyne Farm Centre is that the fun starts right on your doorstep. Our self-catering cottages sit alongside our working stables, meaning children can experience the sights and sounds of the farm throughout the day.

Horse lovers will be in their element. You’ll often see our horses being led past the cottages for riding sessions, or relaxing in the surrounding fields; an experience that feels truly special for young guests.

We offer a range of horse riding experiences for children, suitable for different ages and confidence levels:

• 15-minute led pony walks for children from 2 years old
• 30-minute led walks or Introduction to Ponies sessions for children aged 3+, including grooming and hands-on learning
• Horse riding lessons for children aged 5 years and over

For children who love all things magical, our unicorn experiences and parties are always a highlight. Kids can decorate the ponies, transform them into unicorns, and enjoy a magical led walk across Clyne Common, with stunning views over Swansea Bay.

For older children and adventurous families, Challenge Valley offers plenty of mud, laughter and teamwork. This assault-style course features climbing, crawling and balancing obstacles, making it a brilliant way for kids to burn off energy while enjoying the outdoors.

More Things to Do in Swansea with Kids

If you’re looking for things to do in Swansea with energetic kids, head towards Parc Tawe, one of the city’s main leisure areas. Several popular attractions are located close together, making it easy to plan a full day out.

Highlights include:

• Ninja Warrior UK Adventure Park Swansea – Ages 4+, with adult supervision requirements for younger children. Perfect for children and teens who love climbing, jumping and testing their agility.
• Crazy Climb Swansea – Colourful climbing walls suitable for a range of abilities. Standard sessions from age 5, with separate toddler sessions for ages 3 to 6.
• Plantasia Tropical Zoo – an indoor tropical rainforest filled with exotic plants, fish, reptiles and insects. The photo above is of the Clyne Farm team after successfully escaping from Plantasia’s escape room! We were invited to test it before it opened to the public.

For a relaxed but entertaining afternoon, Tenpin Swansea is a great all-weather option. With bowling lanes, arcade games and food on site, it’s ideal for mixed-age groups.

For a fun activity that appeals to all ages, Bunkers Golf is a popular choice. This themed indoor mini golf venue is perfect for rainy days and offers a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.

Parks, Nature and Outdoor Adventures

Swansea is full of green spaces that are perfect for family days out. Just a short drive from Clyne Farm Centre, Clyne Valley Country Park offers peaceful woodland walks, cycle paths and plenty of space for children to explore. The traffic-free routes make it especially popular with families bringing bikes or scooters.

Another local favourite is Singleton Park, around 10 minutes away by car. The park is home to several life-size dinosaur models by the boating lake, including a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops and Stegosaurus, which never fail to impress young visitors. There’s also plenty of open spaces for picnics and plenty of room to run around.

Easy Day Trips from Clyne Farm Centre

If you’re happy to travel a little further afield, there are some excellent family attractions within just over an hour’s drive.

• Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo combines farm animals, zoo exhibits, indoor play areas, rides and adventure playgrounds—ideal for a full day out
• Heatherton World of Activities offers a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, including mini golf, soft play and family challenges

In the opposite direction, St Fagans National Museum of History provides a more educational experience. This open-air museum brings Welsh history to life through historic buildings, interactive exhibits and traditional crafts, all set within beautiful grounds that children love to explore. Beaches and the Gower Coastline

No family stay near Swansea would be complete without time at the beach. Clyne Farm Centre is perfectly positioned for exploring the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Nearby beaches such as Langland Bay, Caswell Bay and Three Cliffs Bay are ideal for sandcastle building, rock pooling, paddling and classic family beach days.

They’re not just for summer either. Cooler days can be perfect for a beach walk, rock pooling or simply letting the children run off some energy before heading back to a warm cottage.
