Join Our Team as Horse Riding Stable Manager – Full Time

Are you passionate about horses and experienced in running a Riding Yard? We have an exciting opportunity for you to lead our friendly team and manage our small independent riding school in the heart of Swansea, offering stunning views of Mumbles Village and Swansea Bay.

Good leadership and communication skills are essential as well as a high level of equine experience and knowledge. Must be competent with all types of horses, and be able to lead by example with high levels of horse care and management.


  • Deliver lessons to customers of all ages and abilities including Advanced level.
  • Ride out and lead hacks with customers of all ages and abilities.
  • Be responsible for the health, safety and welfare of; all horses and ponies at the Centre, all farm animals living at the Centre, all animals and people visiting the Centre, and all staff working in the department.
  • Ensure the provision of horses and ponies of a suitable temperament and schooling for use in the Centre. Responsibilities include purchasing and schooling.
  • Schedule and maintain worming, farrier, equine dentist, and veterinary programmes.
  • Organise and schedule all department sessions via the online booking system. Oversee customer bookings via the system.
  • Ensure that all sessions within the department are staffed to the required level with appropriate staff.
  • Source, selection, induction, training and management of all stable staff.
  • Monitor staff performance, including staff appraisals and reviews.
  • Conduct staff training and create staff development programmes.
  • Work with and support other Managers and the Centre owners.
  • Develop and conduct training programmes in line with the Centre policy, the inspection criteria of inspecting bodies and recognised qualifications.
  • Manage all visits from inspecting bodies.
  • Respond to customer enquiries utilising telephone, and computer systems within the Centre.
  • Respond to any customer complaints and feedback.
  • Maintain filing systems for the day to day running of the department.
  • Ensure adequate stock levels of essential equipment, supplies, feed, and veterinary materials.
  • Manage grazing and fields.
  • Maintain essential equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in the marketing of the department.
  • Assist in the development of the department to increase bookings and turnover.
  • Promote a positive image in line with the Centre’s policy.
  • Support the Central Objectives of Clyne Farm Centre.


  • Provide reception cover, providing a warm welcome to visitors to the Centre.
  • To support, when own workload allows, the general operation of the Centre.
  • To promote all activities and programmes to visiting customers.
  • Assist in other outdoor activities where appropriate, for example showing groups of school children the farm animals.
  • Be flexible to assist to cover any gaps in staffing, where required. This may include helping outdoor activity staff or housekeeping for example.
  • Work where required on behalf of or at the Centre’s sister site The Dylan Thomas Birthplace.
  • To carry out all other duties as required.


  • To have experience of working in and running a Riding School, or similar organisation.
  • To have experience of teaching horse riding to a range of ages and abilities, including Advanced level.
  • To have experience of managing a similar team of staff.
  • To possess recognised qualifications or experience in horse care, stable management, health, and safety.
  • To ride at an advanced level.
  • To be a team player and an effective part of a wider team framework.
  • To be a good problem solver, and to be calm and organised under pressure.
  • To be hard working, self-motivated, professional yet approachable.

Leading our team of instructors across all aspects of the Centre. To continue our friendly and unique approach to horse riding in Swansea. Enjoy daily teaching and leading hacks across Clyne Common and Clyne Valley Country Park, with a flexible approach to lessons as we have such varied clients. Our riding sessions range from complete beginners who have never been on a horse or pony before up to to advanced riders.

You will be responsible for scheduling sessions, all equine administrative duties, scheduling the staff rota, maintaining horse welfare and fitness, maintaining equipment, stock levels, and care of the other animals on site. You will be expected to contribute towards the continuing improvement of the Centre through innovative ideas.
