Many guests come to Clyne Farm Centre to step away from busy routines and enjoy a slower pace of life. Around the world, different cultures have long understood the value of slowing down. You may have heard about the practice of forest bathing in Japan, which encourages slow, mindful walking through woodland taking time to notice the sights, sounds and scents around you. In Italy, there’s the phrase la dolce far niente, which translates to “the sweetness of doing nothing”, which reflects a deep appreciation for rest without guilt. The Mediterranean lifestyle, in many ways, teaches us to slow down with life itself.

Here in Swansea, we like to think we offer something very similar. With lush green parks, sweeping coastal landscapes, and nature always close at hand, it’s easy to fall into a gentler rhythm. Add to that a fantastic selection of welcoming coffee shops; perfect for couples, families, dog walkers, or groups of friends. All the ingredients for a relaxed start to the day!

Breakfast at Square Peg

One morning experience we particularly recommend begins in the village of Sketty, just a 10-minute drive from Clyne Farm Centre. Here you’ll find a wonderful little independent café called Square Peg, serving some of the best poached-egg breakfasts we’ve ever had!

Inside its cosy yet vibrant interior, you’ll often see people sipping coffee after an early-morning run through the park or a long dog walk. Square Peg serves a brunch-style menu throughout its opening hours, making it an ideal spot to settle into the day. Relax and enjoy your delicious breakfast (we recommend the poached eggs and avocado on toast, topped with their signature blend of herby oils).

Fun fact: Square Peg was featured on Interior Design Masters (Series 5, Episode 4), hosted by Alan Carr. The café was re-designed during the programme by finalist Matt Smithwood and the eventual winner, Roisin Quinn; which you can see reflected in its distinctive interior.

Explore Singleton Park

After breakfast, head to Singleton Park for a wander through the parkland and a visit to the Botanical Gardens. If you have more time, extend your outing to the boating lake. This is the largest park in Swansea, spanning around 250 acres. Once part of a private estate owned by the Vivian family in the 1800s, the land was sold to the local council in 1919 and transformed into the public park enjoyed today.

Singleton Park offers a peaceful mix of woodland paths and open grassy spaces, perfect for gentle walks, picnics, or simply sitting and unwinding. At its heart lies the Botanical Gardens, home to a collection of exotic and rare plants, along with tall glasshouses. This is one of our favourite places to bring visiting friends and family (and a spot that’s often missed by tourists!).

For families with young children, the park holds extra excitement: life size model dinosaurs were introduced in 2025 around the boating lake, delighting budding dinosaur lovers. See how many you can spot while enjoying the ducks, swans, and birdlife that gather by the water.

It’s a simple morning. Good food, fresh air, and time to wander.  A lovely way to spend a morning in Swansea.
