Gower Peninsula Walks – A Stunning Winter Route Across Rhossili Downs

While much of the UK was covered in snow, we swapped snow shovels for sunglasses and headed out on one of the best Gower Peninsula walks. This stunning winter route took us from Rhossili Village, up onto Rhossili Downs, towards Llangennith, before looping back via Middleton.

A Walk with a View

This is one of the most breathtaking Gower Peninsula walks, offering panoramic views across the coastline. The walk begins in Rhossili Village, where a steep climb takes you up onto Rhossili Downs. It’s a bit of a challenge, but the reward at the top is more than worth it! We were treated to 360-degree views of the Gower Peninsula – with the coastline stretching for miles under a crisp blue sky.

Once at the top, the walk continues along a gently undulating route towards Llangennith, before descending steeply back down and returning via Middleton. The paths were peaceful, with just a few fellow walkers and some grazing ponies for company.

Rather than heading back you could walk back via the beach. Keep walking across the top of the Downs and drop down into Hillend Caravan & Camping Park. Walk through the Park and access the beach from there. For a refreshment stop check if restaurant / bar Eddys is open (usually April to October). They offer a selection of food and drinks that can be enjoyed in its large indoor seating area, on its outside terrace.
