Great Gower Golf and Clyne Farm Centre - the essential golfing partnership

Ryder Cup Wales 2010 at Celtic Manor Newport

The Celtic Manor in Newport may have grabbed the big prize of the Ryder Cup 2020 but there are few places that can compare to the cluster of golf courses that are on the Gower Peninsula - all within five miles of each other and Clyne Farm Centre with the Celtic Manor just an hour away.

  • Clyne Golf Club - just a long drive and a chip from Clyne Farm Clyne is a great moorland course with panoramic views over Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel

  • Fairwood Park Golf Club - Fairwood backs onto Clyne and is one of the newer courses carved out of former farmland. It is currently undergoing an ambitious redevelopment

  • Gower Golf Club - like Fairwood Gower is privately owned and has on-site accommodation and stunning views over North Gower and across the Burry Estuary to Llanelli (home of the Jack Nicklaus designed Machynys Peninsula course and the championship links at Ashburnham.

  • Pennard Golf Club - views are everything on Gower and Pennard has one of the best with a clifftop site overlooking Three Cliffs Bay (championed by Katherine Jenkins a few years ago as the best view in Britain)

  • Langland Bay Golf Club - another course where the views will put you off your game but with a clubhouse to take them in again during your after round drinks.

Further afield

  • Earlswood Golf Club - just six miles from Clyne Farm Centre the club has a Pay as You Go course and a regular course which runs either side of the A483 link off the M4 at Junction 42

  • Machynys and Ashburnham - Swansea's traditional rivalry with Llanelli is forgotten when these courses provide the test

  • Pyle and Kenfig - old established championship course

  • Royal Porthcawl - one of the few clubs with a Royal appendage is a wind drieven testing links course

  • Vale of Glamorgan - more championship golf thirty miles away

  • Cottrell Park - two courses in a parkland setting, friendly clubhouse - a little bit of a hidden gem.

  • A directory of all Welsh golf courses

Why stay at Clyne Farm Centre?

  • Comfortable, converted stone barns - some over 400 years old - with all modern facilities. Self catering or with continental breakfast basket you can come and go as you like - no hotel restrictions
